Akins Store History
The Akins community is said to be named after Robert Akins, a mail carrier at the post office formerly located in the area. The area is famous for being the home of Sequoyah, a member of the Cherokee Nation who created the Cherokee Alphabet. It is also famous as the home of Charles Arthur Floyd (Pretty Boy Floyd). Floyd is buried in the Akins Cemetery. Akins Store has been a part of the Akins community throughout it’s long history and we hope to be a part for years and years to come.
